We’re CELEBRATING our fifth anniversary – we opened our shiny newly painted doors to the amazing community of Wimborne and their pets on Monday, 30 November 2020.

We can’t actually believe how fast five years has flown past and how incredible the journey has been.  Our team has grown and we’re so proud of each and every one of them for their continued support, commitment, love and passion for their job and the compassion, enthusiasm and joy they give our clients.

Relationships have grown and continue to grow with each and every one of our clients and their furry family who step through our doors – each one has a special story to tell and we’re there for the journey.

It’s been an absolute whirlwind, WINNING Best Vets in Dorset 2021, Best New Business 2022 and 2023, as well as overall Business of the Year 2023, Best place to work in Wimborne 2024, runner-up in Family Business of the Year 2024, Outstanding Customer Service Silver placement in the 2025 Wimborne Business Awards —-> AND the cherry on top of the cake was WINNING BEST NEW BUSINESS across the WHOLE OF EAST DORSET in 2024….  as Chris would say, ‘it’s gone faster than a rat up a drainpipe, with it’s pants on fire, with a booster jet pack, trained by Usain Bolt who’s late for the best deal on Black Friday!’

We asked the team some fun and quirky questions, as well as about their time with us – here’s what they had to say:

When did you start working at Vetsmiths?

Sam – About a year before we opened.

Clare – Right from the start.

Chris – Here from the start! Probably in my head before 2018!

Sarah – November 2020, from the very start …… filling envelopes for the Golden Tickets!

Kesh – I’ve been here since May 2023 – crazy how fast the time as gone!

Martha – Feels like I’ve been here forever…in a good way.

Best thing about Vetsmiths?

Jess – For me, is that when people ask me if I like my job, I dont have to lie, because I genuinely LOVE my job. I work with incredible people, I see such a variety of different people coming through our doors every day, with so many stories, and I get to see animals (my fave things in the world) all day long.

Kesh – Being able to work with some very talented but also very fun people! Also meeting so many gorgeous pets 😊

Rhiannon – Working with a great team and friendly clients.

Lynsey – The Team and the dogs (all of the dogs)!

Sarah – Vetsmiths is a fabulous place to work, filled with a lovely team of colleagues!!

We shouldn’t have favourites, but…?

Sam – Cooper and Teddy, our very first puppies on our first day of opening.

Barnaby – Well of course it has to be Kipster 🐾

Anita – Love a spaniel and maine coon cat.

Emma – Couldn’t get it down to just one, so Mollie C, Daphne G, Frank McN.

Tara – Mika.. my favourite chihuahua ❤

Martha – Can we talk about wire-haired sausage dogs?!

Bea – WoodyH or LouisM.

Jess – My princess Ginny, my first ever puppy at Vetsmiths, and still to this day we both get so excited to see each other – she also has the most fabulous mummy who I equally adore!

Dog, Cat, Rabbit or guinea pig?

Kesh – I have a very special place in my heart for Guinea pigs ❤

Martha – Dogs, dogs dogs.

Lydia – Dog.

What’s your proudest work accomplishment so far?

Lucy – Proudest moment is when I helped a very upset client after she was so worried about her dog being poorly and she told me I made her feel comforted & much better about the situation.

Sarah – Mastering editing photos on the work mobile 😅

Bea – Surviving with all the information.

Barnaby – Sorting through all those new client registrations five years ago when we opened!! So many clients joined us from the beginning!!

What’s your go-to snack?

Clare – Biscuits

Rhiannon – All food (I’m not fussy), but I am enjoying anything cheese related recently.

Chris – Anything apart from a donut – evil things.

Lynsey – Food – any food!

Funniest thing that’s ever happened to you?

Lucy – I slept walked two miles on a school camping trip when I was 14 years old – have never slept walked since!

Emma – I’m the clumsiest person in the world – there’s too many to mention.

Would your 12-year-old self think you were cool?

Chris – Very definitely, as he wanted to be a vet.

Lorna – Hope so!

Lynsey – Would think I’m weird and far from cool.

Traitors or Strictly?

Bea, Lynsey, Tara, Jess, Anita – Traitors

Sam – Too hard to call – loved Traitors and loving Strictly this year.

Lydia – Neither.

Clare – That’s a tricky one, love them both!

Martha – Speak to me about MAFS and Love is Blind and we can have a conversation.

Kesh – Obsessed with the traitors.

Sarah, Emma, Lorna – Strictly.

Chris – Traitors. All day long. Gotta be. Final answer.

Do you sleep with stuffed animals?

Emma – No, just live ones.

Jess – I still at the age of 34 sleep with my butter bear, the cuddly that was given to me the day I was born!

Who do you text/WhatsApp the most?

Lorna – My closest girls from primary school.

Rhiannon – My sister 🥰

Sam – Barnaby and my mum.

Clare – My bestie, closely followed by the Vetsmiths team WhatsApp.

Lucy – I text my mum the most, she’s my best friend.

When at work, where do you spend the most time?

Jess – On the waiting room floor, with any animal willing to give me attention.

Lorna – With the patients – consult room or theatre.

Rhiannon – In the kitchen eating a snack or getting a cup of tea 😂

Lydia – Theatre

Kesh – I’m mostly in the consult room meeting everyone’s pets and giving out far too many treats!

To those who were with us from the beginning – how fast has that five years gone?

Chris – Faster than a rat up a drainpipe, with it’s pants on fire, with a booster jet pack, trained by Usain Bolt late for the best deal on Black Friday!

Barnaby – Can’t quite believe it!!!

Lorna – So incredibly fast!

Tara – It’s crazy to think I’m 5 years older!

Sam – Waaaay tooooo fast!!

What would you say to someone thinking of bringing their pet to Vetsmiths?

Bea – That it would be the best decision ever!

Kesh – Go for it! I love meeting new pets and clients and we pride ourselves in offering the best service.

Sam – It’s a no-brainer – we’ll look after you and make you feel welcome every time you come in and give your pet the best attention ever.

Jess – Why haven’t you already!?

Lucy – Bring your fur baby to Vetsmiths, we are the best ! We care, we are all there because of our love of animals and genuinely care about them and their owners wellbeing. We have the best practice environment, clinical knowledge and treatments on offer.

With a big thanks and shout out to our brilliant team for joining in with a bit of fun and giving you a tiny insight into how their minds work.

Here’s to going into year SIX . . . Team Vetsmiths, you ROCK!
